You'll find yourself saying 'What am I watching' more than once
Well what can I say, Tusk is a film of it's own. The premise of the film is Justin Long being turned into a patch- work walrus. It is a hit or miss film, you either love it or hate it.

Justin Longs acting in this film is great, but the film had a lot of jumping around and doesn't feel fluid with it's character arcs. It aims to be a dark comedy and I did find myself chuckling at some parts in the film, I equally found myself saying 'What am I watching' just as often. There isn't really much character development in the movie, but you do grow attached to Justin Longs character by the end of the film. The actual walrus when you see it is slightly disturbing.

I genuinely felt slightly upset at the end of the film, but I felt as though the film could have been written better. If there was a more fluid feel to the scenes, and more development on the characters then this film would be getting better ratings.

The overall story is original, the acting is great, but as a final product it feels very rushed and choppy. I enjoyed tusk and think that it is underrated and being played off as 'too weird'

Yes, it's a weird film but it's trying to be different and is a nice change of pace from most horror films these days. If you want a film that will make you genuinely say 'WTF' at the end, tusk is for you. If you're going into this film expecting a good horror film, you're going to be disappointed.

Wasn't expecting much, but best cinematic surprise in a long time. From what I thought might be
another badly done take on the seemingly tired zombie premise came a fresh, well-acted, nicely-directed, great little indie film with some new ideas, lots of humor, hair-raising tense moments,
and chock full of interesting characters. Think Zombieland meets Mad Max, with a little 28 Days
Later and some Laura Croft thrown in the mix. Mix is the perfect word because there's such a
blend of action, horror, humor, and sci-fi going by at whirlwind pace that by the end you're exhilarated,
and a little woozy, but you just want to get back on the ride.Hopefully someone smart will quickly
grab up the same actors for a sequel. The movie ended just as a new twist was unfolding, and
the story seriously deserves to continue.

Having seen the first two films, we are given a strong consistency about what to expect from future films. Anticipations were heavily raised at the conclusion of Chapter 2, and even though this is actually a prequel to the events of the previous works, it fully lives up to the standard set by its predecessors by reason of the presence of the same masterful, expectation-defying scare tactics built into the grand structure of strongly written plot motivations. Topping this off with touching moments of love and scattered bits of uncompromising humor and you have Insidious: Chapter 3 being a most worthy fulfillment to the horror trilogy that both terrifies and satisfies!

Supernatural horror plenty of weird phenomenon , frights , creepy beings , shocks , and eerie
events . The Lambert family formed by father (Patrick Wilson) , mother (Rose Byrne) and children
move temporarily into the old house of Lorraine Lambert (Barbara Hershey). Lorraine is the old
friend of formerly deceased Elise Rainier (Lim Shaye) , she brings again the group of ghost
hunters Specs (Leigh Whannell , also screenwriter) and Tucker (Angus Sampson) to resolve the
ghastly mystery . The haunted Lambert family seeks to uncover the mysterious childhood secret
that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world . Little do they know that the house
is haunted . The family looks to prevent evil spirits from a realm called The Further .This is a
haunted child movie that contains restless horror as when the invisible and threatening beings
attack . The story is split between the present day and 1986, where a young Elise Rainier is called
in to help Lorraine Lambert and her son , again starred by Patrick Wilson as Josh Lambert , Rose
Byrne as Renai Lambert , Ty Simpkins as Dalton , Lin Shaye a Elise Rainier , Barbara Hershey as
Lorraine Lambert , Steve Coulter as Carl and Leigh Whannell as Specs . Tension , creepy
atmosphere , genuine chills , suspense is continued and appear lurking and menacing into dining
room , hallway , basement and rooms . Great loads of screams , shocks , exploitation and terror abound with the usual poltergeists phenomenon caused by the weird entities . It's recreated with magnificent make-up and high grade plethora special effects which are frightening and horrifying the spectator . Writer Leigh Whannell stated at the Toronto Film Festival that when he wrote the film he had a list of horror movie clichés posted above him, so he could avoid using them ; he said the first one was to make sure the family moved into a new house once the haunting started . Eerie musical score by Joseph Bishara creating a spooky atmosphere. Dark as well atmospheric cinematography by John R. Leonetti ; a majority of the film was shot inside Linda Vista Community Hospital, which also doubles as the abandoned hospital that the characters visit .

The film was well directed by James Wan and it was shot in just a few weeks ; he even has a
cameo on a computer wallpaper with Specs and Tucker . Wan is an expert writer and filmmaker
on terror genre as he has demonstrated in ¨Saw¨ saga , ¨Dead silence¨, among others . James
Wan subsequently directed ¨The Conjuring¨ also starred by Patrick Wilson , another terror film
in which keeps it horror with yet another haunted house film . And of course , his biggest success
¨Insidious¨ , it was followed by this ¨Insidious Chapter 2¨ . Furthermore , producers are preparing
¨Insidious 3¨, as Leigh Whannell himself announced that actor Dermot Mulroney will star in Insidious:
Chapter 3, making for a choice that many genre fans should love . This third film will be directed
and written by Leigh Whannell . Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions, which produced both
Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2, is producing the next installment along with Oren Peli and
James Wan . Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Peter Schlessel, Lia Buman and Entertainment
One's Xavier Marchand are exec producing.

How this movie got funding it is a mystery to me . To put it mildly movie is awful . Bad acting ,bad script ,bad directing ,no special effects, plot insults your intelligence ,characters insult your intelligence . It is like they got together one afternoon and decided to make a movie ,they shot it next day and this pile of S#%t is the result .It amazes me to know that in 21st century they can not find a decent script nor gather enough creativity to make something better than this . They made better indie movies than this in 60s and they had worse equipment less money and less talent . It would be greater pleasure to be sodomized for 80 minutes than to be forced to watch this "movie" again.

Just as you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, try not to judge a movie by its pre-credits sequence. I was actually groaning aloud while witnessing the bad acting on display as soon as this movie opened. And things looked like they were about to get a hell of a lot worse with a sub-Showgirls moment of unerotic, sexual writhing. Then a werewolf appeared and some blood was thrown around . . . . and my interest was piqued once again.

Moving on from that, Bad Moon introduces the viewer to Janet (Mariel Hemmingway), her son Brett (Mason Gamble aka the boy who was Dennis on screen) and their loyal dog, Thor. Into this small unit comes Janet's brother Ted (Michael Pare), the man involved in the opening unerotic, sexual writhing and werewolf carnage. Thor doesn't really like Ted and it's not too long until everyone, apart from those on screen, knows exactly where the animosity springs from.

Director Eric Red is not a bad guy. He's provided those who saw it with the brilliance of Cohen & Tate and he also wrote The Hitcher, a long-time favourite of mine. But here, perhaps because he's adapting from the source novel named "Thor" by Wayne Smith, he feels a little boxed in and restrained. Seeing the title of the source material on screen certainly prepares the viewer for the focus of the movie as the brave family dog goes about the business of trying to keep loved ones safe. The film plays out like some Joe Dante-infused blend of Cat's Eye, Fluke and Silver Bullet which hinders it initially but then makes for a snappy, and highly enjoyable, second half.

Acting aside, as it's frankly not worth mentioning anyway, we can judge this first and foremost as a creature feature. In that respect, does it deliver something worth seeing? I'd have to say that it does. Mixing practical make-up, camera trickery and some nice little tricks and cheats here and there, the main beastie is both handsome (in a beastly way) and ferocious. It may not be up there with the best that this particular subgenre has to offer but it's no pathetic piñata either.

So, in summation, the movie overcomes many faults to be something enjoyable and worthy of inclusion in anyone's nostalgic list of movies they inexplicably enjoy. Thanks to the creature design and one solid performance from the canine lead it's a surprisingly sweet-centred horror movie that, strangely enough, perhaps could have used a little less blood on screen to gain some broader appeal (and I never thought I would use THAT sentence in my reviews).

Most likely, you're not reading this unless you're a fan and already plan to see the film. And if you are, then know that my review is based on my fandom and in relation to the series itself. Therefore, it will be in the context of horror films, slasher films, and more importantly, the series itself. With that out of the way, who would have though the fifth film would be the one. Ever since the original, the series has sort of meandered around, trying to recapture the initial wonder of death playing the part of a slasher and killing off a group of people.

Yes, Final Destination 5 is truly the best sequel since the first. There hasn't been this much tension and creativity since the original, and practically every scene is filled with an uncomfortable level of anxiety. This is what the film has truly been missing, whether spoiled by the trailers before it or just a lack of creativity. For the most part, Final Destination 3 and 4 (TFD) lacked the necessary level of creativity and menace that was present in the first film, and even in the second. However, we have plenty of that here and a few nice twists as well. While the kills are also pretty ridiculous, most are plausible and, unlike TFD, should please fans with their level of gore and brutality.

The filmmaking qualities here reach above the standard the film has set. It looks great, with plenty of swift and enticing editing that will make your skin crawl with anticipation. The acting, while still not of any award winning caliber, or even really all that great, is decent enough here. The portrayals are more realistic this time around. While the film had though to settle into the I-found-the-answers-on-the-internet routine, here we have a smooth flow in which characters sort of lose their mind trying to figure things out. And while some might have called the main couple's relationship cringe worthy, I actually found it to be quite well played out as the couple has real issues they work through on top of everything that's going on. Suffice to say, it's nice to see the FD series making better attempts at developing it's characters. Still not great, but better.

With that said, this is Final Destination, and problems persist. Despite better attempts at character development, the majority still play fodder for death's machinations. Sure, we learn a little about them, but it's not any more than the bare minimum: this guys a jerk, that girls wild, etc etc. There is also one kill, in particular, that, while brutal, defies logic. Sure, it's FD, but there is a certain point of ridiculousness where the line is drawn. The characters trying to figure out what's going on is also getting old. There's certainly a reason here, which I won't spoil, why our characters don't know about what is happening in the same way characters from previous films know. But this leads to the problem of it being explained too quickly. This might contradict what I said above, but what I mean is that Tony Todd's character if far too quick to reveal information and the new twist. In comparison to FD1, where things had a slow, natural pacing, here we get a couple death scenes, and explanation, and then more death scenes. The progression is better, but still not as good as the first two films.

Fans will truly enjoy this solid sequel. There are a couple twists, and the final scene will blow everyone away. It's beyond what you would expect, and very nearly worth seeing the film alone. But with a handful of creative and brutal twists and a decently put together film, this should certainly warrant a decent box office and, maybe unfortunately, another sequel or two.
